A violent game?

First of all, I want to say that I place myself in a neutral position towards this topic. I am totally against verbal and physical violence commonly found in video games. By the way, I know by certain that violent behaviour performed in video games hardly can influence on adults gamers but it can do persuade children to imitate what they see or hear in front of the screen. That is why I think that all video games must be graded according to age. On the other hand, I must recognise that technology became part of our everyday life and people have to become accustomed to this fact. Moreover, using games with educational purposes is the best way to come up to technology and train students cognitive skills. But more important, they are faced to future expectations from main industries.

I think that people should stop wasting time complaining against video gaming and their possible negative influences, but start looking for a way to take advantage of it. Moreover, I do not agree on the fact that children are negative influenced by video games. They should find more support on their parents.

Are credit cards beneficial?

It is believed that since its invention, the credit card has gained a great number of followers. There are people who feel very comfortable with their credit cards because they say it allows them to acquire a great range of products. However, there are some others who claim that this plastic money is not as beneficial as it is believed. In spite of these controversial opinions towards credit cards, no one can deny the fact that this virtual money has gradually achieved an essential role in people’s life.

To begin with, it is widely known that credit cards have gained great popularity through the years. People’s every day life and comfort are intimately attached to this pseudo-money due to its unlimited use. “We can get whatever we need whenever we want to” they say. All types of shops such as bookstores, shoe shops, and drugstores use credit cards. It seems as if people are no longer concerned about not having cash in their pockets. Moreover, this virtual money is somehow a useful device for travellers; by this means they may avoid the risk of robbery when taking cash with them.

Take care of yourself.

A lot was said about “stress” in the last past two decades. This phenomenon affects mostly people who work many hours a day or those who were exposed to high emotional situations. Stress’ symptoms were depression and lack of energy.

Nowadays, the illness about which Doctors are frequently referring to is called “Bipolar depression”. Patients suffering from bipolar depression experiment a deep feeling of sadness and hopelessness, statistically the numbers of suicides are committed by people suffering the disease. However, specialists are testing new alternative therapies to supplement the traditional drug treatment. It is vital for the treatment success the cooperation of the patient’s closed relatives. They need to feel their not alone in this journey to recovery. Moreover, family members should also be under psychological treatment so to understand the origins of the disease and to support their affected relatives.

Health is our most precious gift, if we do not take care of it no one else would do it.

A question of life or death

Life in Afghanistan it is difficult for everyone, but especially for women who live under long lasting strict customs and beliefs imposed by traditions. This country that is mainly governed by men power was under constantly threatens by Taliban forces. During six months women of different social status have been threatened of death. They say they feel insecure even in their own houses and they deliberately decided not to go to work because of fear of being killed in the streets. Moreover, even their families are under threat; children stop going to school and husband make attend their business from home.

However, six years after the departure of the repressive Taliban women have made their own way and position under the country’s constitution. But they have to work in an atmosphere of fear and pressure. Although their rights have been enshrined in the constitution, they still have to combat against traditions that work against them. Moreover, human rights groups have begun documented atrocities against Afghan women such as forced marriages, abortions and rape.

Beside the fact that women are actively participating in the country’s affairs, state can not even guarantee safety in their working places. Most women have thought about the possibility of leaving the country.

Children' rights

Before children’s birth, doctors advice women that the best food for them is the mother’s natural milk. Women are taught by doctors’ different strategies of breast stimulation in order to produce milk. Moreover they are told about different drinks that help in the production of this vital food.

Women’s milk is the most beneficial food that mothers can provide their children at their early age; natural milk contains all the nutrients and vitamins little babies’ organisms require. From their early food it may depend their future cognitive and physical development? However, there are various aspects that may interfere in the realization of this process as is the case of formula milk substitutes. According to different studies, these alternatives to women natural milk are only required in cases of emergency or if mother’s milk is not good enough to feed the baby. Furthermore, a recent research has found that breastfeeding would lower the risks of developing diabetes type two. Specialists state that results have not established a final effect yet, but they are positive towards a successful result. I think that women should be aware of all the benefits of breastfeeding for themselves and their children.

Abortion

Chinese people view’s of abortion is quite different from occidental countries perception of the matter. As they consider abortion part of a government policy to measure the established family quota, in our country abortion is considered a crime. However still there are different theories about the beginning of life.

On the other hand, as government reduced to one the number of child, the number of abortions among single women has arisen. Although married women obtain government support as regard to reproductive life, they still carry out abortion. They say they do it in order not to pay the taxes imposed by government. I do not know what kind of policy is that implied in China, but life is unique here and anywhere. Of course, this analogy between life and crime could only be created by men.

Moreover, I must confess that this is such a complex issue to talk about. In one hand, there are people and public institutions such as the Church, which are against abortion and claim for the non legalization of it. Moreover, they ask for strong punishment on those who illegally practice it.

On the other, doctors suggest that abortion may be possible in cases where the mother’s life is at risk. Though, this is restricted only under medical supervision and approval. Furthermore, there are also non government organizations that defend the women’s right to decide in case of an unwelcome pregnancy. However, Church rejects any feasible case of abortion and defends life at all extents. My position to this particular issue is quite the opposite from that of the church. Although I am against a deliberate and irresponsible abortion, I strongly support the fact the doctors’ opinion. However, I think that women may take responsibility over their behaviour and decisions.

A bit of respect

I must confess that I was really caught by this new from the very beginning. Just a month ago it was known by a local TV programme the outstanding news that three mummies have been found in deserted mountains of our country. As soon as the news became known, the controversial opinions about the matter also arose and discussion was established. Native and non official organizations claim for the mummies’ recovery to their original family members. They claimed that the mummies must not have been removed from their burial places because; according to aboriginal customs they were given to their god as offerings, so they were sacred gifts.

Although the fact that these kinds of discoveries may help in scientific researches, I think that human remains should not be taken out from their burial places. Moreover they should be banned by law as well as the expositions of this type of remains. Just think about the possibility of being exposed behind the glass of a museum.

Dishonesty

The case presented in this article is a shown of men dishonesty and self-centredness. As the case revealed, scientists took advantage of their condition and cheated people who only expected any kind of help from them. According to the information, these kinds of practices such as taking out blood, have being taken place since a long time. Moreover, they became popular among natives, especially in poor tribes. It is evident, from what we can read, that scientists’ only purpose was the collection of blood samples for trading and not for studying as they claim. Otherwise, they would not refuse to give them back as their Brazilian colleagues did.

In my opinion, this action in part of the scientists made evident that they have the courage to do anything in the name of science. Moreover, they do not care about others’ interests or damage as long as they obtain their desire. Once again there is no respect for human life, not even a bit of contemplation for those who are deprived of knowledge or money as natives.

Solidarity

Although organ donation became a current theme in the few past years, still there are some people who consider it a complex and difficult issue to talk about. Non government organizations and even doctors are persuading people to register themselves as possible donors. They declare that there are some patients who have to wait for an organ for at least five to seven years. Besides the fact of the time, patients must deal with long and painful treatments which results in traumatic lives and unbearable amounts of money.

Personally I think organ donation is a matter of self-consciousness and care about other’s life thinking about ours. We may consider the possibility of becoming a voluntary donor in case any of our relatives may need it. Moreover, we may be directly engaged in circumstances in which our health or life would depend of someone else organs. I think it is just a matter of faith and hope. In this way we may contribute to enlarge or improve someone else life.

Justice or Cruelty?

Death penalty is such a controversial issue. There are people who are in favour of such a punishment because the say that if someone killed someone else for robbery, revenge, etc must be punished by law in the same way. However, there are people who believe that forgiveness is the best therapy and help that government could give them.

A recent research has found that those prisoners who are injected with the lethal injection suffer from great pain before actually dying. The chemicals are so strong that they still feel the pain after being injected with anaesthetic. Because of these findings, anti death penalty campaigners and lawyers presented a claim asking for the dissolution of this kind of cruel punishment.

As a result, a number of death sentences will be delayed till judge get to an agreement. What is important to consider as regard this issue is the fact that criminals should be punished with justice and no cruelty.

A controversial decision

No one can deny the fact that homosexuality has caused controversial opinions all over the world. The acceptance in society of gay relationships, gay marriage or same couple blessings are some of the questions homosexuals are claiming for. During these days Congress in Colombia was the home of an astonish bill signed by Colombian president Alvaro Uribe. The bill gives equal health insurance rights and allows a surviving gay partner to inherit shared assets.
The bill would validate gay union before the law and it will benefit more than 100,000 couples. Gay organizations in Colombia described the ruling as a great step and they also seek to an end in discrimination. They say that it may be time for the Legislature to address the needs of same-sex couples and their families.Unfortunately, these affairs have brought to the surface a more controversial issue; that people have discriminatory attitudes against homosexuals’. These affairs are quite remarkable issues that will never get to a consensus due to the notorious of its content. Gay relationships are seeing as unnatural for Church; they go against nature and family. Moreover, it is quite difficult for people to accept such relations. I think that it will pass a lot of time till these relations may be accepted. Moreover, I think that in these cases what must be carefully considered is the fact that gays or lesbians are no more than people.

The sun and its consequences (2nd part)

In addition to what has been said before, sun causes the worst effects on skin. After a period of five hours of sun exposure, the skin may develop sunburn which causes a red and painful kin produced by overexposure to UV radiation. In most of the cases, some skin cells died and skin peels. The Science Magazine stated that five to seven people developed sunburn after an entire day at the beach. Consequently, experts have recommended the use of sunscreens. Moreover, they agree that unprotected sun exposure is more dangerous for people who have moles, very fair skin or hair, or a family history of skin cancer. Skin cancer is a skin disease which may have been caused by repeated severe sunburn or long term sun exposure. Unluckily, if this disease is not detected on time, the person could die. Experts indicate that the natural protection our body has against skin cancer is melanin. Melanin is the pigment that gives skin its colour; the darker a person is, the more melanin they have. That is why people with fair skin are more vulnerable to skin diseases.
The use of appropriate sunscreens and sunglasses would reduce the risk of developing any of the diseases above mentioned. People should be careful about self protection and persuade their kids to protect themselves from sun.

The sun and its consequences (1st part)

It is said that sun exposure is vital for the health of our body. Sun is the primary source of vitamin D which helps our body to absorb calcium for stronger and healthier bones. The sun radiates light to the earth; part of that light consists of ultraviolet rays. However, a raise in the UV made sun exposure more dangerous than previous years; causing serious damages mainly to our skin, immune system and eyes. UV is an invisible sun radiation that enters the atmosphere also in cloudy days; even though there is no sun, people should protect their eyes and skin.
You may think that sun does not cause serious injure to your eyes; let me tell you are wrong. According to recent research, only few hours of sun exposure without sunglasses may damage your eye and redden the retina. This can lasts a few days causing constant heating, headaches, and weep. Going deep, a more serious effect is cataracts. They are caused by a long term sun exposure to sun without the appropriate eyes protection. Unfortunately, there is not treatment for cataracts; the only solution is surgery. A cataract is an opacity developed in the crystalline lens of the eye or in its cover. According to experts, the one way to prevent eyes damage due to sun exposure is the use of sunglasses with the proper UV protection.

Telling tales

Last Wednesday was the first time I had the chance to tell a story to my classmates. We were all given the task of reading a story. We should be aware of the fact that our audience was children. Let me tell you that the task was not an easy one¡. We were required to use our imagination and be creative. In this way we may catch our audience attention and curiosity.
Although I prepared and re-read the story many times, I felt tense by the time I had to read. I was really nervous, however, I did my best and things went all right. I put emphasis on my voice in order to distinguish each character. Body language was also present to make the story more dramatic. Eye contact is an important feature of story tellers; we may see if the audience is enjoying the story or not. It was an amusing experience for me. It allowed us be aware of some strategies by the time we become teachers.

Television today (2nd part)

However, some changes in new television had not benefited the audience at all. Realities arrived in the country to stay and they caused a great controversy between young and elder people. These shows transmit twenty four hours a day what is happening inside the house. There are cameras in every single room; participants are monitored the entire day. The audience is exposed to all sorts of scenes at any moment of the day. I think these kinds of shows are not beneficial to people, they do not offer anything positive to the audience. I really do not see the point of standing in front of the TV watching a group of young doing absolutely nothing. Despite of these facts, they enjoy of fame and had a wide range of followers all over the country.
In conclusion, modern television has radically modified its attention compared to television of fifty years ago, for example there are no more programmes for children and cartoons are not longer transmitted by local channels. Moreover, it can not be denied the fact that customs, life style and thoughts have changed through the years. However, there are still some values such as privacy and self respect that can not be omitted.

Television today (1st part)

It is said that television has greatly improved since the time when the first TV programme was set on air. However, most people agree that modern television is extremely far from that of the beginning. There is no creativity in the content of some programmes. The reality show, which first appeared in Europe, also imposed its style in our country becoming into a global phenomenon. Despite of this fact, people can still watch their habitual news programme or enjoy of some comical movie at the weekend.
Among many changes television had, news bulletin programmes still remain. However, besides the traditional format they use to have, nowadays news is presented with a hint of informality. Some programmes deal with a variety of matters; such as current affairs, some guests, and fashion. Also, it has become a tendency in our country programmes that focus their attention in more specific current affairs as health, education in poor towns of the country, the life of imprisoned people, etc. At the weekend, family can enjoy of entertaining movies and a great variety of local cultural programmes.

Teenagers and technology

One of the most significant improvements as regard to communication of the last four decades is the mobile phone. Since it was first introduced in the market it turned into one of the largest industries in the world. It has an annual profit of billions of dollars. According to statistics, only in our country there are more than thirty million of cell phones; more than seventy per cent of the population posses a mobile phone. It is said that a large percentage of the total amount of cell phones belong to teenagers between the ages of twelve to eighteen.
Teenagers are the most consuming group as regard to technology. They feel strong attraction to these kinds of devices, especially those apparatuses containing high technology. Nowadays, mp3 and cell phones are first among young people’s preferences.

Smoking at public places

Daily routine, long working hours and money pressures affect directly on people’s emotions. Restless and greedy men and women find in smoking an effective gateway to their stressing lifestyles. Besides the fact that they do not care about their own health, non smokers are directly damaged with cigarette smoke.
One convincing point in favour of the policy of non smoking at public places is that smokers are so familiar with this smell that this became in such a common habit. They smoke at home or in any place. A bar, a pub, a restaurant are meeting places where smokers feel comfortable. Those are the places where they free their poisoning vice against non smokers’ clients. Besides, smoking may be associated with business and hard job that is why those places are full of smokers looking for a bit of relaxation.
On the other hand, non smokers are the ones who directly suffer from the consequences of uncontrollable smokers. Their so tied to their addiction that they are not able of spending a single hour without inhaling this dreadful smoke. In this regard, non smokers are affected by the harmful smoke if cigarette which turn them into passive smokers in the long term. In the future, they will be at risk of suffering from heart diseases.
In conclusion, besides the fact that smokers are in their right of smoking whenever they wish, it is also the rights of non smokers of enjoying and breathing pure and clean air. Furthermore, no one denied the fact that smoking in public places without caring about others, is seen as selfish and destructive attitude.

Similarities and differences (2nd part)

Making reference to the setting, it is carefully described in the book by means of evidence and concise historical location. On the other hand, the movie presents the setting in only one visual shot, avoiding additional information.
Finally, the theme presents no variation in both versions of the story; Phileas Fogg’s self-confidence allows him to reach his goal successfully. He went round the world in the established time and won the bet. The theme is directly told to the readers and spectators at the beginning of the tail and it is developed all over it.
In conclusion, both versions are a good option to enlarge our knowledge of the world. Of course some people would prefer one option or the other. Personally, I would rather prefer reading a book; I would allow my mind to create its own filmic version.

Similarities and differences (1st part)

Bestsellers usually have their filmic version, which in most of the cases contain some differences and similarities with its written one. Although the general theme is maintained, movie directors change some information or skip any unimportant details to make the movie shorter. In this regard, “Around the World in Eighty days” is not the exception.
To begin with, both versions share the main plot; Phileas Fogg’s attempt to circumference the world in eighty days. Both stories also have some subplots such as the persecution of Phileas in hands of inspector Fix or the secret love between Princess Aouda and Fogg.
As regard the characters, there are some differences. In the written version the life of the main characters is told throughout the story, while in the movie characters are briefly presented at the very beginning. Also the personality of characters is described in both versions by means of actions, dialogues and thoughts.

Computers

Looking back at the twentieth century, it is worthy pointing out that computers have considerably impacted in our lives. Experts and people in general may claim that computers have become into a vital work tool for their everyday activities.
It was said that in the past computers were mainly used for military strategies. However, with the passing of time it came to play a significant role also in society. Their complex system and software have increased with success that nowadays computers can execute a wide range of activities. Moreover, those who work programming computers are in the search of newer and more complex software to replace the actual ones.
Some experts and scientist, such as Stephen Hawking, claim that software will increase in such way that it may become more intelligent and efficient than mankind.

Compare and contrasting (2nd part)

Following with the example mentioned before, now we will analyse the filmic version of the same movie which in this case comes to be shorter than the written edition. The movie has the same main plot that the book, however, some of the subplots is only mentioned briefly. As regard to the characters they are same; actors’ physical appearance is quite similar to the description given in the book. Their personalities are determined mainly by facial expression, body language, actions, dialogues and thoughts. The setting is similar to that of the book; it contains a wide variety of details making reference to the places where the most important events occurred. Although the theme is the same it is not directly presented to viewers who may infer it all along the movie.
In conclusion, although both versions share the same main features, the movie version skipped some details which are mentioned in the book.

Comparing and contrasting (1st part)

A lot of attention should be out when comparing and contrasting two items of the same characteristics. Today is the turn of comparing and contrasting the written and filmic version of one of the famous characters of the world. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer Stone is the first in a series of books written by J.K. Rowling. The book was first published in 1997 and the film had been long awaited until its première in 2001.
First of all, the book presents a main plot: to discover the mystery of the sorcerer stone by this apprentice of wizard and his friends. Also, the book has several subplots such as the enmity between the main character and one of his classmates. The lives of the characters are described through out the story; their personal characteristics are determined by means of actions, dialogues and explicit thoughts. These features provide readers with accurate images of events and movements. As regard to the setting, it offers detailed information of places. The theme; the fight between good and evil of magic, is explicitly told to the reader all over the chapters.

A fascinating city

This city itself is called “the pretty”; for many years this city has worked all its magic in order to keep its nickname. The city of Salter is not so far from our Tucumán. It only takes four hours to get there. Getting your bearings will be really easy due to the fact that each street is correctly signed.
Every summer holidays, a great amount of people from everywhere, especially from Europe, arrive to this in-your-face and lively place. There is a particular street near the city centre which is clogged with people from day to night; they are five blocks where old buildings were turned down to make place for the modern buildings. During the day, cars are not allowed to circulate through those streets; there a lot line of craftsmen offer their creations. At night, everything changes; streets are clogged with traffic and loud music comes out from the bustling restaurants and pubs. Of course, a characteristic feature of this place is their regional foods; they are the enchantment of foreigners and citizens.

Who decides what is normal?

Thinking of normality at any stage of life is quite a difficult question. Up to what extent standards of weight and height are reliable? Who determine those standards? Why people seem to be forced to fit with those standards?

From my point of view, individuals possess their own physical and mental characteristics. It may be unreasonable and unfair to judge a person of not being normal just because they are different. I strongly disagree with this stupid idea of imposing measures of normality. We do all have differences as regard to qualities, colour of the hair, etc. We are all unique.

The best things in life are free

Trade relations made popular when mankind begun their expansion all over the world. Moreover, until the invention of money, people used to exchange any kind of goods; such as clothes, food, species, animals, etc. Nowadays, life itself is a constant exchange of feelings, emotions, and experiences.

To begging with, it is widely believed that the cheapest articles are the expensive ones. Cheaper articles do not long or function as the expensive ones. However the expensive ones are no always the best, it depends in its quality. Most people agree that the best things in life are free. But it is not as plain as that. No money in the world can reward the delight of a mother looking at her baby born. Pride and satisfaction make a student’s heart beat strongly whenever they get a passing mark in an exam. Sharing family weekend or with friends is considered to be an effective therapy before the arrival of a working week.

On the other hand, there are people who disagree with this idea. They say that every single item in life has its cost; “money brings happiness but it can not buy it”. They are conscious that happiness will not last for ever. Moreover, they declare that the joyful moments in life are the most expensive; such as a weeding party, a honey moon or a birthday meeting. They also state that keeping oneself in good health became expensive.

In conclusion, money is necessary in people’s life, but it is not vital for person content. Fulfilment, delight or love is feelings that are kept deep in the heart; there is not golden treasure that could be compared to the pleasure of feeling them inside you.

Taking the best out of our food

The key for a healthier life is no longer a secret. For many years experts have suggested that a balanced diet rich on proteins and fibres provides the body with the appropriate quantity of vitamins and minerals it needs to cover its everyday necessities.

Besides, doctors have insisted on the fact that a diet free of tobacco and alcohol together with the practice of sports, will provide people with a better quality of life. The life expectancy average age will enlarge.

A matter of consideration is how much of what we eat is actually absorbed by our body. The answer to this issue, according to experts, is bioavailability. This science makes reference to the real quantity of the nutrients within a food that is usefully absorbed.

Furthermore, scientist suggests that researches as regard to this matter can be of great importance in developing countries as well as for those people who suffer from vitamin and mineral deficiencies.

Interactive software for children

To begin with, no one can deny the fact that technology as well medicine has always benefited people’s lifestyle. As regard to technology, it has improved communication in a superb way. The fast wide spreading of different types of software provided people with a great range of facilities.

Moreover, it is outstanding the use of special programmes created to help non-speaking children with the aim of developing their language skills. From my point of view, technology became in an essential tool for medicine. They both should be combined for he sake of humans healthcare.

Personal Description

I am a single twenty seven year old woman; however people say I look younger which means not too much for me, because I feel younger than I actually am.

I am studying English at IES Lola Mora during the evenings. In the mornings I work as a private teacher.

As regard to my personality, I consider myself a talkative person, kind and friendly, however I am shy in occasions. Loyalty is the most important quality I have, of course I demand the same from those who surround me.

Life in the city develops stress

Time-consuming jobs, exhausting routines or extensive business meetings may be some of the reasons why living in a populated town became extremely stressful. In a recent poll published in a local newspaper, people who live in urban areas declared that their lives turned into real nightmares. Loud noises, traffic jams, crowded streets add to their every day responsibilities an amount of stress to deal with.

Demanding jobs or careers may press on people to the point of devoting more time to long lasting job tasks than the time devoted for resting. Besides, the unexpected rise in the standard of life make people think of adding extra working hours to their regular schedule to catch up with money duties. Also, paying services bills by the en of the month and still keep some money in your wallet are a real challenge to face up. That is why dedicating time for one’s pleasure became a difficult goal to achieve and people’s lives grow to be a package of nervous

Working people are not the exception. It is a common mistake thinks that being a housewife is the easiest task. However they have to face with problems of different nature. It is not just a question of arrange meals and make the laundry. They are in charge of the family spiritual and economic stability. In a few words, every detail is carefully supervised by her. So, by the end of the day the “Queen of the house” feels devastated towards daily responsibilities.

Moreover, public services developed into the monster of a frightful film. Whenever people need to pay a bill, they have to deal with long queues; unkind employees and uncomfortable buildings. Unfortunately, the attention in some public institutions is getting worse people’s opinion towards them is lowering but stress is rising.

My experience with death

Following instructions given by the teacher, I selected one from a large list of topics to write an entry.

To begin with and according to my personal experience, I must declare that this is not my first meet with death. In fact, this is the hardest one. Although it happened six years ago, it seems to me as if it occurred yesterday.

On a bright summer January morning I went to see my father at his office but to my surprise, he was not there. One his colleagues told me he had retired to hospital early in the morning because he was not feeling well. Later at home I neither could see him; doctor said he really needed to take a long rest, so he was under some medicine effect. That night he was not able to sleep because of a dreadful stomach-ache.

He has always been a vigorous healthy man that is why I assumed something really terrible was affecting his health this time. After a week, medical results agreed on the fact that the causer of such significant weakening on his health was cancer. A lot of things were told about the possibilities of surgery and the effects of long term chemotherapy. But nothing could be done. Just a week later cancer was discovered, my father’s life got to his end. From that moment on I experienced a great change and very deep inside I know I am not the same I used to be.

Education

This morning the whole country was surprised with outstanding news: a forty year male teacher had been injured by death on a public demonstration. All along the day, news programmes only spoke about the strong army repression teachers from the province of neuquen suffered from hands of the local police. Besides, in a neighbouring province, public teachers went on a demonstration asking the local government for a rise in their incomings based on the cost of life growth.

Every year, before the beginning of the scholar period, government makes false promises to teachers that are never accomplished. What is really hard to understand is the fact that any government gives education the great value it has. Sometimes I think education is not an important matter for them. On the other hand, I think that it would be easier for them to control an untrained society.

Teachers claim is a real one; no one can live by their own with a basic monthly income of three hundred pesos. There is no dignity on it.

Bipolarity

A lot has been said about “stress” in the last past two decades. This phenomenon affects mostly people who work many hours a day or those who are exposed to high emotional situations. Most common symptoms of stress are depression and lack of energy.

As it definition makes reference, depression is a mental disorder characterized by feelings of sadness, hopelessness, pessimism, and a general lost of interest in life. In most of the cases, people experiment a combination of symptoms which affect their social life, work and family relations. Patients suffering from bipolar depression develop a deep feeling of sadness and hopelessness. Statistically the number of suicides is committed by people suffering the disease.

Specialists are persuading patients to test new alternative therapies to supplement the traditional drug treatment which becomes-in longer term treatments- one of the causers of depression. Moreover, experts agreed in the fact that it is vital for the treatment to success the cooperation of the patient’s closed relatives. They need to feel their not alone in this journey to their recovery. Moreover, family members should also be under psychological treatment so they can understand the origins of this disease and can be able to deal with its treatment.

“Our moods are rarely completely stable and the world would be a very boring place if they were”.

Cancer and medication

Cancer became in the last decade in one of the main causes of death in the entire world. Undoubtedly, the mere word “cancer” is immediately associated with “death”. As far as I am concerned, early chemotherapy treatment and surgery are known to be the most effective options when considering a cure. However, they convey traumatic and painful post effects on patients. These harmful reactions towards both treatments result in the skipping of medication by patients.

In my opinion, cancer patients and their families should receive psychological attention. The therapy may be focused on the patient and their close relatives. It should help them to face with a long term treatment and the radical changes that chemotherapy brings with it over the patient’s life.

On the other hand, it can not be denied the fact that an early detection of the disease would benefit the effectiveness of the treatment. Not only should patients be well informed about the advantages and side results of drugs and cancer medication, but also people in general.

Alternative Medicine

Medicine has gradually improved through the passing of time. It can not be denied the fact that mankind has devoted most of their time to the sake of medicine and its realization. Recently, a non conventional medicine known as alternative medicine is being exercised by doctors all around the world.

We should point out that alternative medication has caused a great impact in the fields of medicine. Experts agree on the fact that one of the major advantages of this medicine is that it has no secondary effects. It is widely believed that it is the best option for those who suffer from any kind of negative reaction to certain drugs. Specialists also support the view that the implementation of this non-conventional medicine does not affect the immunological system.

On the other hand, specialists agreed on the fact that there was not a serious research about the varieties of this medicine. Moreover, people who practice it are not well qualified to do it. Many experts who use any of the types of these complementary methods such as; acupuncture, shiatsu, aromatherapy and reflexology, suggest people to use only high qualified products. Another disadvantage is that its long term treatment requires a high degree of steadiness and patience. Otherwise, it won’t be effective.

In conclusion, alternative medicine may be used mainly as a complementary method of conventional medicine. Also, the treatment should be carefully directed by a professional.

The sooner you marry the sooner you part

It is said that marriage has lost the value it used to have in the past. Such event is not longer celebrated as it used to be. Nowadays, more couples decide to live together without signing any document. It is just a question of formality, they say. However, some of those who assume the responsibility of marriage fail in their attempt because they have different thoughts, personal aims or due to immaturity.

One of the main reasons why some couples fail in their marriage is the different Cosmo vision they have. The position that modern couples have towards marriage is that of disbelief: some of them think that anything lasts for ever. So, whenever they feel their relationship is no longer beneficial they automatically split up. Moreover, it is said that young couples do not get the real essence of marriage.

Another reason that leads to the early end of matrimony life is that for some people, personal achievements are priori than family or children. So, they take special attention to the fulfilment of their goals and devote no time to their husband, wife or kids. This lack of attention that is seen as a selfish attitude, results in the breaking up.

A last reason that may be considered is the inappropriate behaviour that some of the parts show towards marriage. They are still dependant on their parents. They do not feel confident enough to carry on with their marriages; they rely on their parent’s advice. In a few words, they are not ready to face up such responsibility as adults.

Poverty

The majority of poor countries FACE a Wide range of economical and healthcare shortage. Due to the lack of resources and investments, work and salary have lost their value. Moreover, people who live in poor countries do not consider money a great value. Survival became for them in more important matter. The entire world remained shocked looking at a dreadful photograph that showed African children dying of starvation.

As regard the information presented in this article, India has the highest rate of maternal and infant mortality. Having a baby is no longer a joyful experience for Indian women, on the contrary, giving birth leads to a secure death for both; the new baby and the mother.

Fortunately, a millionaire investment on health care has been announced by the UK International secretary. Specifically, money will be used to back up a reproductive healthcare project destined for poor and disadvantaged Indian people. The project will also focus attention on adolescents. By means of an early reproductive education and the basic nutritional care, future deaths may be avoided and health may improve.

Politicians and fibs

Not only by written or spoken language can a person communicate a feeling or a thought, but also by means of body language. “Silence means more that a hundred words” reads an ancient proverb. Actually, people’s hands or facial expressions go beyond of what they really say.

According to Doctor Peter collect, any movement made by the body expresses something different. The bit of a lip, a movement of an eyebrow or simply the way someone walks expresses what they are really thinking or how they are feeling.

During years, politicians’ behaviour has been in the eye of psychologists who wanted to discover what peoples representatives really mean in their public speeches. They compared politicians’ language to that of a poker player when facing an opponent.

In conclusion, it is better to talk to the truth no matter how painful or shocking it could be. Otherwise, your gestures and expressions may betray you.

Facing a challenge

I’ve just arrived home after a long working day. To start with, I had given classes to my private students and later I had classes till twelve in the night. To be honest I feel extremely tired. I know is too early for me to complaint taking into account the scholar year has just begun and there is a lot to do in the current year.

At this stage of the career tings seem to become more complex and demanding than in previous years. Now it is when our teacher vocation needs to be reinforced. It’s nor is the same to use English with the mere purpose of interaction or communication but it vital to know how to teach it in a right way.

Although, the majority of my classmates are already working as private teachers, the experience of standing in front of a thirty-people class may be a challenging one. This year is time for me to face my fears and to strengthen my vocation.

Easter Time

Today things will be different since there is almost no activity as regard to schools, banks and commerce due to the Easter Eve. Although this is a time for spiritual renovation, some people prefer to use these days to on a four-day vacation. Since I was a child, I was taught all the religious traditions and I followed them almost routinely. Then, I was sent to a catholic school, where the priest and teachers imposed the pupils everything concerning Catholicism customs. But it was not till I finished Secondary school that I understood the real importance of Faith, Hope, and Charity and the immense Love and Mercy of God. Finally I was able to appreciate my own life and accept my fortune. Easter is a time of death and self redemption, of mercy and forgiveness. Every year human beings have the chance to make a little change in their lives.

An Autumn Afternoon

I’ve just closed my eyes to relax myself. It is a rather cold day today; it is a typical autumn day. I can feel the breeze moving.

It comes to my ears the noises of some trucks working outside the street; their so monotonous sounds. There are men working. Since two weeks ago they are working making the pavement of a neighbouring street.

Swiftly the twittering of birds spread all around a mango tree located at the backyard garden; there are hundred of them. I can also hear the chirping of my neighbour’s parrot coming from besides the wall. Besides, the rumour of cars and buses can be clearly heard far away the street.

The scent of a rose tree near my bedroom window invites me to sleep…suddenly; such peaceful moment is abruptly interrupted by the ringing of the phone.

Alzheimer

Terminal diseases have always been a major challenge to medical science. Particularly difficult to deal with it, is the A’s disease, since it can be detected only when the symptoms have already appeared, making the illness almost impossible to be controlled, neither by drugs nor by an invasive treatment.

Nowadays, however, an early diagnosis can be carried out, and drugs to slow the progress of the disease have been given to patients achieving an 85% of effectiveness in some cases. With this in mind, hopes for stabilization have fortunately arisen, though the cure appears to an issue still belonging to a distant future.

The results seem very promising, but the A’s disease remains almost as distressing as usual, and those who face the dramatic experience of having fallen victims to that illness, still fear the consequences of the inevitable brain damage that comes with it.

Things to accomplish in my lifetime

To begging with, I must be honest and say that when I saw the title at first glance, a lot of interesting things came to my mind. Finally, I decided among all of them and made the following list. I am not sure about the order I gave to them because a few of them are long term goals. Anyway, they are all important to me because I think that in a way, they represent what I am.

First of all, I really want to graduate. I am eager to do it. I want to teach my students and whoever is required of learning this language, every inch of what I have learned. And make them know how wonderful feels being able of communicating in a different language than yours. Besides the pleasure it would caused me, I really want to finish my career because it is the foundation of others accomplishments.

Then, and tied to the first one, I want to find a job; but not any job; I do want to work as a teacher of English. I know this is why I am studying for, but you never know how things would turn. To me a job would be the link among my vocation and the rest of my goals since it would allow me to save some money.

Then, I would like to go abroad to get a degree on my studies. I would like to improve my pronunciation and may be the best way of getting that is by going to an English speaking country.

After years of saving money, I want to buy my own house. There is nothing compared to the satisfaction of being the owner of your own place. No more shared rooms, no more lecture because you arrive late at home and a series of advantages a person experiment when they left parent’s house.

Then, and after years of putting money aside and probably after asking for a loan, I would like to open my own institute. I would like to introduce renewed methodologies in order to make the learning easier and more attractive to students.

Later but not least important, I would like to learn different languages; at least three more foreign languages. Despite the fact that I know a bit of French and Portuguese I think I will not survive living there. I feel like greeting in both languages, however, I need to improve the learning and the practice of both. Communication is vital for me.

To buy a car, this would take me to those places still unknown to me. Personally I think that learning how to drive and being able of doing it would satisfied me and provide me with a sense of freedom. I do refuse the idea of depending on someone else to do the things I want to. I dream about travelling by car to different places.

I would like to travel-at least once in my life- to know any of the world wonders, such as the Egyptian pyramids or the great canon. I wish I could have the money and the time to do it. I think it would be unfair if I dye before witnessing all that natural and historical splendour.

The last two accomplishments of my list are closely connected with a deep personal vocation. You may think I am going insane when you read this but I am totally convinced that I lived in some other life. In that life I used to work as a dressmaker for an important designer because I love sewing and knitting; however I am still in the long path of learning. I know one day I would be able of designing my own clothes and set my own clothes business.

Music I have not heard for years

I am fond of different types of music and singers. The music I am going to tell you about is “the” music that became part of my personal history; today it is called “the music of the 90’s”. That kind of reference makes me fell a little old!!!!!Come on!!I am not so old yet!!!I know that ten years have almost passed since the last time I listen to it, but my heart and mind are still young enough to remember everything as it happened. Nowadays, every time I listen to it, my heart breaks because a great number of memories come to my mind.
This music makes me think of Fridays parties, Saturdays meetings with the girls. Oh God… how long time since those glorious days went away. Now I am sure about that saying which reads “the good moments go fast than the ugly ones”. I remember the time in class; the teachers; the places where we sat, the time spent making the arrangements for “student week”, “the queen party”, the great day we signed the contratct for our graduation trip; how hard we had to work to get some money….and the best “the graduation party”.
There were five years spent togheter as a group that I dare say each member of the class had its own identifying song. The class functioned as a whole. We were a big family, that may be the fact I miss the most of that time. Well, in fact, there are so much memories that invade my mind at this moment that it would take me the whole day trying to put them in order. So, to comfort myself, I have a complete collection of all the best tracks I used to listen to when I was in high school. Whenever I want to bring such wonderful memories back, I just push the bottom.

What mystified me as a child?

It happened……mmmmm…let me see…well, to tell you the truth I do not remember exactly how old I was, but I do know I was a child. It happened on Three Wise Men eve. I was collecting bush for the camels at the front yard with a friend of mine when my father arrived home. He was carrying with him a huge bag from which I could distinguish an object that looked like a teddy bear. I did not ask anything in that moment and continued doing my task. I remember I went to bed late that night, in fact I did not want to but I was almost obliged to go. I pressed my eyes firmly pretending I was slept because mother had told me The Three Wise Men would not come if we were awake. After an hour of silence I heard a noise coming from outside my bedroom window. I jumped off from my bed and noiseless walked through the window to see what had caused that noise. What a shocking image!! I saw my own parents leaving the presents in the place I had arranged. Such a great disillusionment for just a little heart. I felt so empty as if somebody had stolen a precious object from me. There were melancholy inside my soul and heart. However, I did not say a word about the event because I did not want to break my little brother’s heart. The next morning we found the presents where they were left; the bike my brother had asked for in his letter and the teddy bear I had seen in the bag that night.

What made angry but now it makes me laugh

The story I am going to talk about happened thirteen years ago. I was at high school by the time and I was the best of my class. It was summer and I was still enjoying my holidays, even though examinations had already started for those who had to pass the course. The day was reaching its end when someone came home looking for me. It was one my classmates asking for a foulder he needed to study for an exam. I lent him my foulder with the promise it would be deliverde in when exams were over. However, exams finished and I never recovered my foulder. Classes begun and I needed that foulder to take a look to my notes for a test, so I asked my partner to give me the foulder back. He told me he would take it to home, so I waited. However, he never went. When I saw him the following day at school I asked againg and witha laugh, he answered he did not have the foulder. Moreover, he told me the foulder did not exist any more because he had broken it into pieces the day he passed his exam. Then, he added with a sardonic gesture that I did not need the notes because I was a nerd. I still remember his face while he talked. The next thing I did was to hit him in the face with all my fury that later my hands ached. After that, I did not talk to him for the rest of the year. Although then we became friends againg, I never lent him anything else, not even a browser.

A learning experience

Last week we were given a particular task for a language class. We have to prepare an oral presentation about any issue in which we were interested of. It took me some time to decide what to talk about since there were several interesting topics rounding in my mind.
Finally, I made my decision and I chose a topic based on a personal experience I had with one of my friends five years ago.
Everything seemed to be all right in her life until that day when she told us she heard voices in her head. Then, all in a sudden, she decided not to talk with us; not even receive a phone call from us. According to her sister, she spent hours looking at the black TV screener. Even her parents did not know exactly what was affecting her. She experienced a notable change in her mood and her illogical thoughts made me think she would be able to hurt herself.
After months of complete uncertainty, she was taken to a psychology who later derived her to the psychiatrist. She was declared of being suffering from "Bipolar Disorder"; an illness completely unknown for me at that moment. Nowadays, she still under psychiatrist treatment, but she was brave enough to temperate herself for her own sake.
Only when I finished the research about the matter, I was able to understand her behavior and the causer of it. Now, I think I can recognize any of the symptoms of the illness and make a former judgment concerning the issue.

My music

The first remembrance that comes to my mind when I listen to "Los Iracundos" is childhood. All of my memories are related to the amusing moments I used to spend with my father. I remember him dancing araund the record player and whistling his favoutite song.
As amatter of fact, every time I need a bit of inspiration I put "Los Iracundos" records. All of their discs bring to my mind flashes of those unforgetable moments of games and laughs. Taking into account that my main concerns as a child were only play games and have fun with friends, thing seemed to be easier than today.
By the way and talking about inspiration, three weeks ago I repainted my room. I knew from the very beginning that this task wouldn´t be an easy one. However, I put those records on and started working. I finished earlier than I expected and I discovered that listening to that special music kept me in a good mood.
I felt like being a child again, and in occasions when things turn difficult I wish to go back to those times again.
